Hi, I’m Chris.
This website is my personal blog. Like any good About page, I need to tell you what this site is all about. The problem is I can’t quite put my finger on it. I think it’s because I write about a lot of different topics, so it’s hard to really wrap it up with a nice and tidy theme. And I didn't want to talk too much about myself because that feels weird. I even tried to get ChatGPT to help me.
This is all probably one of the reasons why it took me so long to start my own blog in the first place. But I’ve got a blog now, so welcome to charper.io and my hastily written About page.
What’s with the charper.io name?
Without having some epiphany of a theme in mind, I needed a name and domain for the blog. I landed on this because it’s personal (my first initial and last name) and it’s short. In technical terms, io (usually written I/O) stands for inputs and outputs. I thought that worked well for a blog like this because it is basically an accounting of some of the inputs and outputs from my mind.
Topics
This place is certainly a mixed bag of areas that interest me. I already have posts in some of these areas, and others are still just placeholders for future topics I want to explore. Here are a few:
- Writing: Mostly exploring my blogging journey on this site.
- ADHD: Exploring and discovering things along my journey with ADHD.
- Inspirations: Often this is my way of "thinking out loud" as I process something I have read in a Bible study or other book as I examine my faith and walk with God.
- Tech Tips: Sharing solutions to problems that I encounter with technology at work or at home with the intent of helping some future poor soul who finds themselves stuck on the same problem. (I realize this is a bit of a lame name for this topic, but I couldn't think of anything else when I created it.)
- Recommendations: Sometimes I find a service or product that I like enough to tell others about and make a recommendation.
Other places you can find me
My typical social media screen name is @thatChrisHarper.
I’m an anomaly who still spends most of my social media time on Facebook, but I don’t typically share my blog posts there.
I've also been posting to Threads more lately, and that’s a good place to follow me to get updates when I post to this blog.
You can also find me on Mastodon as @Charper@mstdn.social, but I don’t spend very much time there and haven’t really figured out how Mastodon all works yet.
You should subscribe
If you find anything I’ve written interesting, you should subscribe. It’s not like it’s going to be the best decision you’ve ever made, but it can’t hurt and will very likely NOT be the worst decision you’ve ever made.
